Profile
Since 1935, Hopewell Veterinary Group has been a staple of the Hopewell community. Walking into their office at 230 Hopewell Pennington Road, you immediately feel the history of a practice that has grown from a solo operation into a robust team of seven veterinarians. As a pet enthusiast, what I love most about this place is that they haven’t lost that “small-town” touch despite their growth; they are one of the few independently owned practices left in a world of corporate animal hospitals.
When you bring your pet here, you’re going to experience a team that truly values longevity—many clients have been coming here for decades, and even former high school employees return as adults with their own pets. The medical care is thorough and unhurried. Owners often remark that the doctors take their time to listen and never make you feel rushed out of the exam room. Whether it’s a routine physical or a more complex surgical procedure, the level of communication is high; it’s common to receive multiple updates during your pet’s surgery and post-op recovery so you aren’t left worrying.
However, being honest about the experience means acknowledging that because they are so popular and locally focused, the office can be incredibly busy. While they are great about squeezing in urgent cases to help you avoid a trip to a 24-hour emergency center, the lobby can feel a bit hectic, and communication with the front desk staff can occasionally be hit-or-miss depending on how slammed they are. Most people find the drive worth it, though, because their pricing remains extremely competitive and “fair” compared to many other North and Central Jersey vets.
If you’re looking for a place where the doctors are “salt of the earth” and will go the extra mile to research complicated treatments for your fur baby, this is it. You’ll walk out feeling like your pet was treated with dignity and that you received expert medical advice without the “corporate” upsell.
